Drawing crowds from across Montana, North Dakota, Wyoming, and beyond, the Bakken Brew Fest is looked forward to by many each year.īakken Brew Fest features an assortment of regional microbrews, wines, ciders, food specialties, and live music, drawing drinking age attendees from across Montana, western North Dakota, and southern Saskatchewan to an exciting evening featuring unique beverages, activities, and conversations with regional brewers. On Saturday September 4, the Sidney Area Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture hosts the tenth annual Bakken Brew Fest at the Richland County Fair Event Center. The brew fest would not have happened without the dedication and vision of the committee and partnerships with Blue Rock, Elk River, Ranger Lounge, and Richland County Fair and Event Center. A gift of $5,000 was donated from the Brew Fest’s proceeds to the Sherry Arnold Scholarship Fund. The inaugural event debuted Bayern Brewing’s Bakken Bock, a dark doppelbock crafted in tribute to the MonDak region and the Bakken oil resources, and music by The Clintons. A committee consisting of David and Cami from the Chamber Board, community volunteers, Jodie Leland, David Branson, Stacy Brunsvold, and Joe Bradley, and then-Chamber staff Wade VanEvery and LaVanchie Starkey met weekly to bring the event to fruition in 90 days…yes, 90 days! As the first event of its kind in Eastern Montana and Western North Dakota, the Bakken Brew Fest was unveiled at the 2012 Chamber Banquet.įive hundred tickets were sold and the event featured approximately 35 micro brews from 19 breweries. The Brew Fest was conceptualized in late 2011 by then-Chamber President David Seitz and Vice President Cami Skinner as a means to capitalize on the growing interest in craft brewing in Montana and bring a new event to the community, while also raising funds for the Chamber.
